Our nanocrystalline materials power innovations across multiple industries worldwide
Solid-state transformers (SSTs) use power electronics to convert energy at medium frequency (typically kHz to hundreds of kHz), enabling compact, intelligent grid interfaces. Magnetic components are a critical bottleneck for SST power density and efficiency.
Jing Electronics supplies nanocrystalline and amorphous soft magnetic cores specifically engineered for SST isolation transformers, filter inductors, and common-mode chokes. Compared to silicon steel or ferrite, our materials deliver lower core loss at medium frequency, higher permeability for fewer winding turns, and significantly improved power density.
Amorphous alloys excel at reducing eddy-current and hysteresis loss at power frequencies, making them ideal for SST input reactors and line-frequency stages.
Nanocrystalline alloys (10–100 nm grain size) combine the low loss of amorphous precursors with 2–5× higher permeability, making them the preferred choice for SST medium-frequency transformer cores where size and efficiency matter most.
Result: Up to 30–50% lower core loss and higher power density versus conventional magnetic materials in SST designs.
Common questions about amorphous, nanocrystalline materials, and solid-state transformer applications
Nanocrystalline magnetic materials are soft magnetic alloys with grain sizes of 10-100 nm, offering high permeability, low core loss, and excellent performance at medium to high frequencies up to 1 MHz.
Amorphous alloys have a non-crystalline structure and excel at reducing loss at power frequencies. Nanocrystalline alloys are produced by controlled crystallization of amorphous precursors, combining low loss with higher permeability and superior high-frequency performance for SST and power electronics.
SSTs operate at medium frequency and require compact, low-loss magnetic cores. Nanocrystalline and amorphous cores enable higher power density, lower core and winding losses, and reduced component size compared to silicon steel or ferrite in SST isolation and power stages.
We manufacture nanocrystalline cores, magnetic components (transformers, inductors, current sensors, common-mode filters), molding power inductors, amorphous reactors, and custom nanomaterials for industrial and power-electronics applications worldwide.
